Except for the missing pickguard this 1920 F-4 is original throughout. Its previous owner had it for 60 years, although he admitted it has seen little use in recent decades. Thanks to having spent all those years in the SF Bay Area, it is well acclimated to our nearly ideal humidity levels for wooden instruments. The neck is quite straight, frets are good, and there are no cracks that we could find. Check the photos for wear to neck barrel. This F-4 has great tone and plenty of volume making it easy to understand how the model became Gibson's flagship mandolin for so many years (until the F-5 was introduced, at which point mandolin popularity was already fading). The original case shows wear but all latches and hinges work and it's fully functional.
