Although this F-4 was made after the Lloyd Loar period, it has all the improvements that Loar introduced a few years earlier, including the adjustable truss rod, the adjustable bridge, and the more narrow neck. To many players, the result is the ideal F-4 as it combines the iconic oval-soundhole warmth and tonal sweetness with contemporary playability (and ease of string action adjustment). The F-4 was Gibson's top mandolin model for many years, and even after the F-5 was introduced many players stuck with the oval soundhole F-4 because of its tone.
This example has the original tuners, pearl nut, bridge, and tailpiece w/cover (the tailpiece has gone missing). The finish is original on the body but the barrel of the neck has been oversprayed. It has been refretted and hasn't been played much since, so the frets are in great shape. Comes with the original hardshell case.
