1954 Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar - Used

Excellent and solid throughout, this D-28 is a prime example of why the estimation of early-to-mid-'50s Martins continues to climb. For one thing, the folk boom hadn't hit yet, and Martin's production numbers and methods were little changed from almost a decade earlier. We've known this D-28 for over 20 years, when Frank Ford first did a neck reset. The original bridge has been replaced, but it's in the case (that bridge had been given small bolts along the back edge, a common bit of insurance against needing to glue it down properly). Has had a recent refret at Gryphon. (All bracing is original, including bridge plate, but a small cleat was added over the center seam)
There's been some lacquer touch-up around the bridge, but the shiny finish on the rest of this D-28 is from extensive polishing by previous owner, not overspray. Original Kluson tuners, original pickguard, only crack is short hairline in the side (next to binding at the waist). A fine example of a North Street Factory Martin.
Comes with a vintage D case that's possibly a few years later than the guitar.
