Here is a really cool 1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty" with all the right specs and tons of vintage Gibson appeal. Not a bad weight either at 9.3 lbs...

This one is a bit more affordable than most because it has had an old headstock repair. Fortunately, it appears to have been a relatively minor break, as it did not go through to the face of the headstock. The repair was done well and has likely been stable for many years. As it sits today, the guitar plays exceptionally well and remains a fantastic vintage player.

Aside from the repair, this appears to be a very original example. The only changes we can find are the jack plate (as per usual) and one strap button. Otherwise, it retains all the desirable original features including the Patent Number sticker humbuckers, waffle-back tuners, witch hat knobs, lightweight stop tailpiece, and ABR-1 bridge.

The original fretless wonder frets are still present and the guitar plays surprisingly well with a comfortable feel up and down the neck. The neck itself has a nice medium-to-full profile, measuring 0.83" at the 1st fret and 1.02" at the 12th fret, with a 1.72" nut width.

Cosmetically, it has the honest wear you'd expect from a vintage Les Paul that has been enjoyed over the years. It presents very well overall and has that unmistakable vintage Black Beauty vibe that made these guitars legendary.

It comes housed in an older vintage hardshell case that is not original to the guitar but is absolutely period-correct and looks great with its green interior.

Playability & Sound

The original Patent Number humbuckers sound excellent, delivering rich mids, strong note definition, and classic early-'70s Gibson character. Despite retaining the original fretless wonder frets, the guitar remains comfortable and very playable.
