We’re always excited when an instrument from Stefan Sobel shows up and we think this archtop 12-string is a little more exciting than his usual guitars. This guitar is made with a carved spruce top and nicely figure Brazilian rosewood, which is not carved but it is pressed into a subtle but distinct arch. Stefan's archtop models are based on his personal 1930s Martin C-1, which had a round soundhole rather the more familiar f-holes. It has rosewood binding with birdsfoot and red/white/green trim round the soundboard and red/white/green purfling round the back and sides. The neck joins the body at the 12th fret. This example has a unique sound and combines the smoother tones of a typical Sobell flattop with the clarity and balance good archtops are known for. This guitar is in excellent, lightly played condition with just a hint of fret wear. Includes the original Calton case.
