The Baldwin B342 Acrosonic is a decorator-style console piano that has consistently remained one of the company’s most popular models since its introduction in 1936. The scale design of Baldwin’s Acrosonic Consoles is based on more than 100 years of quality piano construction methods, offering classic styling and excellent performance that will perfectly fit your décor. The B342’s design features a soundboard and ribs made from spruce, and a precision notched bridge made from hard rock maple. It also features Baldwin’s Full Blow Direct Action, giving it a superior touch to other pianos this size.

Classic design, handcrafted features to last you a lifetime

Like all Baldwin Upright Pianos, the B342 still follows the acclaimed Baldwin Scale Design, a precise “recipe” to determine optimum shape of sounding area, string length, and placement of bridges and strike points to produce the best tone and balance all across the frequency range. At 43 ½" tall, the B342 is able to accommodate a larger soundboard than most compact uprights, and therefore benefits from a full, powerful sound. Its longer strings are enhanced by the purity and balance of 100% virgin wool hammers. Also, Baldwin uses many of the same premium tonewoods and components that are employed in its top-of-the-line professional pianos, including a spruce soundboard, solid two-ply beech and hard maple bridge, spruce ribs and back frame, and a 19 ply hard maple pinblock. Baldwin’s Full Blow Direct Action contributes to a superior feel and response, for an extremely expressive playing experience.

STRUNG BACK

SOUNDBOARD
To ensure a soundboard of consistently superior quality, Baldwin selects only the finest spruce available. A time-tested traditional design contributes to the responsive character of the soundboard, providing outstanding tonal quality.
BRIDGES & RIBS
The Baldwin B342 bridges are constructed of two-ply beech and hard maple. This design contributes to the outstanding tonal quality of the Baldwin piano. Ribs, crafted of premium spruce, are hand selected and matched to each soundboard for maximum stability.
BALDWIN STRINGS
Baldwin strings, made by Mapes or Roslau, provide consistently rich and detailed fundamental tones and harmonic overtones.
PINBLOCK
The B342 pinblock consists of 19 plies of hard maple, one of the most durable hardwoods. By alternating the grain direction of each ply, tuning pins are snugly held. The plies are joined with a waterproof adhesive, so the integrity of the Baldwin pinblock is not adversely affected by humidity.
