This 1996 Collings CW-28 Brazilian, serial# 2195, is, simply put, an absolute beaut! Constructed with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides and an Adirondack Spruce top, guitars like this don't come around often. The back and sides were selected from John Holman's personal collection of Brazilian Rosewood and really showcase this guitar's brilliance. The back, specifically, is from set #8c, while the side is from set #14c. Really an astounding instrument in every capacity.
It has a 25 1/2" scale length, 1 23/32" nut width, and 2 1/4" string spacing. It has been extremely well taken care of and is in Excellent condition overall. The large soundhole, impeccable wood selection, and comfortable Mahogany neck will have you coming back for more - while its power and tone shines through. This CW-28 is also loaded with nice appointments, including a Leopard pickguard; grained Ivoroid binding throughout; Herringbone top trim; a matching 2-style backstrip; and a grained Ivoroid and wood nitrate rosette. There is a minor scratch in the finish on the treble side of the upper bout (see photos). A striking and remarkable guitar, this Collings CW-28 Brazilian was delivered in January of 1996 and includes its original hardshell case.
