In the world of rare of Collings guitars, the Walnut Valley National Flat Pick Guitar Collings Winfields rate towards the top of the list, complete with the wheat headstock inlay. Awarded in 2004 as the first place Winfield Flat Picking Championship prize, this CW is a dread with immense power thanks to the Adirondack top and focused, cutting bass thanks to the Indian Rosewood back & sides.
At some point after being awarded at the festival a second owner of the guitar enlisted an incredibly skilled craftsman to add this fingerboard and heastock inlay. It's truly A+ work.
Forward shifted, scalloped Adirondack X bracing evokes pre-war sounds with ultimate top resonance and plenty of rich harmonics. The Dalmatian pickguard pairs beautifully with the top, a throwback to one of most iconic bluegrass guitars around. Beyond that, this guitar is in Very Good condition with only a few dents and scratches as pictured. There is a repair center seam top crack that is stable. The guitar has had a professional refret and PLEK fret dress and play as good as new. A true bluegrass cannon, designed for the finest of pickers. Comes with the original hardshell case.
