This new Collings D1A VN Custom, serial# 22990, has an Adirondack Spruce top plus a few custom build features we feel deliver even finer resonance, tone and playability. The D1 dread model already stands out amongst players with a bold, warm sound but we also chose no tongue brace for this one, along with the slightly larger than standard Vintage Now neck (with a 1 3/4" nutwidth) and bridge so it really sings out and feels great in hand. The VN neck is not as chunky as larger vintage Martins, but gives you just a bit more than a standard does, plus a generous, vintage inspired 2 5/16" string spacing so you can really dig in. You'll want to play this one 24/7.
The beautifully grained Ad top is paired here with Mahogany back and sides, giving it that classic, rich tone along with remarkable note definition. It's perfect whether you're playing alone, in a band, or working with a vocalist.
