The Collings D2HA Hill Country is a dreadnought built for players who want the power and authority of a traditional bluegrass cannon, but with the responsiveness, warmth, and refinement that define Collings craftsmanship. As part of the Hill Country series, this model pushes the tonal spectrum toward a stronger fundamental voice—dry, woody, and full in the low end—while still retaining the clarity, articulation, and balance that make Collings one of the most respected acoustic builders in the world. For players who love the feel of a pre-war-inspired dreadnought but want modern precision, this is exactly where those worlds meet.

Built with an Adirondack spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides, the D2HA delivers exceptional headroom, dynamic range, and harmonic complexity. Adirondack provides the power and projection flatpickers demand, while the rosewood adds depth, rich overtones, and a broad tonal spectrum that fills the room without becoming muddy. Collings specifically describes the Hill Country voicing as warm, woody, and dry, with a full low end that bluegrass players will immediately recognize and appreciate.

The Hill Country scalloped X-bracing and abbreviated tongue brace allow the top to move more freely, creating a more open, responsive feel under the hands. The Honduran mahogany neck features the Hill Country carve with a comfortable Modified C to Modified V feel, paired with an ebony fingerboard, aged bone nut and saddle, and relic nickel Waverly tuners. Unique Hill Country appointments—including the hand-poured tortoise pickguard and matching rosette ring, stamped rear peghead logo, and no front logo—give this model a distinct understated elegance that serious acoustic players immediately notice.
