This Collings Electric Guitars - 290, here in a full body Tobacco Burst finish, delivers on a classic solid-body build, with an upgraded pickup combo. Featuring a pair of Lollar pickups, this custom 290 sports a Charlie Christian Hexagon in the neck and a Dogear P90 in the bridge. This pickup pairing delivers some fantastic low-fi, wooly and gnarly neck pickup sounds, with the more traditional P90 tones in the bridge. Of course, when flipped into the middle position this pickup combination cancels out the inherent 60-cycle, and the independent volume/tone controls make dialing in custom tones a breeze.
Here with a select solid Mahogany body, with a few classic Collings touches in an elegant cutaway and comfortable contoured back. Little appointments throughout, such as the custom 290 truss rod cover and matching pickguard stand out, along with subtle black knobs which compliment the pickup covers well. Named after the scenic highway that runs through Texas Hill Country, the 290 embodies what it means to rock - a lightweight, versatile guitar with a great set of pickups.
