This 1996 D2H from Collings Guitars is an excellent example of the fine guitars produced by the Collings shop in the mid-1990s. Featuring a rare, gorgeous set of Brazilian rosewood for the back and sides, along with an Adirondack spruce top, this dreadnought sports herringbone trim and evokes the vintage, pre-war guitars sought after by so many. This classic combination of Adirondack/Brazilian makes for rich, warm low-end with an even response across the fingerboard that makes flatpick lead lines an expressive, joy to play, along with delivering the umph required to keep up with any jam. Bold, focused and direct, this is a guitar that is hard to put down.
All in all this over 25-year-old guitar has been well taken care of, with some slight impressions in the finish and minor playwear evident, along with minimal fretwear.
One of two Brazilian dreadnoughts constructed at the time by Bill Collings for his friends Jim Baggett and Bob Taylor, this is a fantastic guitar and a tribute to Bill Collings' legacy. Includes a modern Collings TKL case.
