The Collings I-35 LC takes the familiar semi-hollow electric formula and refines it through Collings’ precise approach to materials, construction, and feel. Built with laminate construction and a center block design, the I-35 LC delivers the warmth, air, and touch sensitivity players expect from a great semi-hollowbody while keeping the response focused, balanced, and controlled.
This Faded Cherry example features the plain maple LC construction listed on the invoice, giving the guitar a classic visual character with the dry, woody, mid-forward voice that defines the I-35 LC platform. Compared to Collings’ solid-wood I-35 models, the LC leans slightly tighter and more direct, with excellent clarity and note separation while still retaining the bloom and complexity players want from a semi-hollow.
The major upgrade on this build is the ThroBak SLE101 Plus MXV pickup set. These pickups give the guitar a vintage-inspired humbucker voice with strong articulation, clear low end, and enough thickness in the treble range to keep leads full without becoming harsh. Paired with the I-35 LC’s laminate semi-hollow construction, the result is a guitar that feels responsive, expressive, and extremely usable across clean, edge-of-breakup, and driven tones.
The Honduran mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, short 24 7/8" scale length, and Collings’ clean fit and finish make this instrument feel refined without becoming sterile.
