When Fender opened the Custom Shop in 1987 it was about getting back to small team builds and doing things properly again. Instead of large scale production, the idea was simple: build the best versions of the classics with closer attention to detail, better finishing work, and a feel that actually reminds you why people chase vintage pieces in the first place.
This 2013 Custom Shop '57 Stratocaster Relic captures that late 50s character beautifully. The soft V neck has that comfortable, slightly full carve that sits naturally in the hand, and the relic finish gives it a broken in feel straight away. Tonally it has the snap and clarity you expect from a good '57 style Strat, with lively attack and a sweet top end that stays articulate under gain.
It presents extremely well and comes complete with all of its original case candy in its original G&G hard shell case. It’s a great playing example that feels settled and responsive, without trying too hard to be something it isn’t.
