The Gibson Custom Limited 1959 ES-345 Reissue Varitone Bigsby Heavy Aged Ebony is a remarkable recreation of one of the rarest and most desirable semi-hollowbody configurations from Gibson's Golden Era. Part of Gibson Custom's Limited Edition Collection, this model combines the elegance and tonal sophistication of the ES-345 with the expressive capabilities of a factory Bigsby vibrato and the expertly aged artistry of the Murphy Lab. Finished in an exceptionally uncommon Ebony Heavy Aged treatment, this guitar captures the appearance, feel, and character of a well-loved vintage original.
Built with the classic maple/poplar/maple laminate construction and a solid maple center block, the 1959 ES-345 delivers the warmth and resonance of a semi-hollowbody while maintaining outstanding sustain and resistance to feedback. The Murphy Lab Heavy Aged nitrocellulose lacquer finish recreates decades of natural wear, lacquer checking, and playing marks, giving the instrument an authentic vintage personality from the moment it leaves the case.
The mahogany neck features Gibson's coveted Authentic 1959 profile and is joined to the body with a long neck tenon for enhanced resonance and tonal transfer. A rosewood fingerboard adorned with aged cellulose split-parallelogram inlays provides the iconic ES-345 aesthetic, while the pair of Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups deliver the airy highs, warm midrange, and dynamic response associated with the finest late-'50s PAF-style humbuckers. The addition of a mono Varitone circuit dramatically expands the tonal palette, offering everything from rich jazz textures to cutting blues and rock tones.
