This 1963 Gibson Byrdland is a stunning. vintage thinline archtop. The result of a collaboration between Gibson, Billy Byrd & Hank Garland, this model derives it's name from a combination of Byrd and Garland - merging to form Byrdland. Taking it's inspiration from the popular L-5CES, the Byrdland however sports a thin, 2 1/4" deep body along with a shorter 23 1/2" scale length, making it one of the most comfortable 17" archtops out there.

Sporting the original pair of Gibson Patent Number pickups with gold-plated covers, this handsomely appointed archtop has that vintage Gibson archtop sound in spades. The neck pickup is warm and inviting, while still retaining nuance and pick attack. The bridge pickup is bright and focused, and cuts through without being harsh. The 7-ply binding, triple-bound back and original 7-ply bound pickguard, along with Florentine cutaway, all make for a fantastic look. The original Byrdland tailpiece is in great condition, with very clear "Byrdland" etching. Flowerpot headstock and inlayed Gibson logo both look fantastic and the original tuners look great and function well.

Originally a factory second from Gibson this guitar has had a professional neck reset to correct any playabilty issues. Thanks to a Mass Street setup this vintage archtop is a joy to play, even with the narrower nut width and low frets. Here with moderate fretwear this Byrdland includes the original Black/Merrigold Yellow plush lined hardshell Gibson-badged case.
