Cosmetic Condition: The guitar has light play wear for its age. The finish is glossy with light dents and scratches throughout as well as checking on the back of the body. The metal hardware is nicely tarnished.
Modifications/Repairs: The guitar has been refretted and the nut has been replaced. Grover tuners have been installed.

Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action. The frets are narrow and tall with minimal play well. This guitar is a transitional example for this model. By the year 1962 the Duo Jet was generally a symmetrical double cut body with gold hardware, a flat arm Burns vibrato tailpiece, a standby switch on the lower bout and a gold colored plastic pick guard. This guitar features all those appointments but has the single cut body shape of an earlier model and also does not have the Burns vibrato tailpiece. It does however have a filled hole under the tailpiece (see pictures) which appears to be factory original. It is likely that during its construction at some point the guitar was intended to have the vibrato but then then it was filled and the "G' tailpiece was installed. These kinds of inconsistencies with appointments are not uncommon on Gretsch guitars from this era. The guitar includes the original serial number sticker (often missing on these) on the back of the switch cavity cover. In addition, it includes the original Gretsch warranty guarantee with matching serial number and model number. The serial number dates to 1962.
