This vintage Martin Guitars - 1933 OM-18 is open and responsive, with a very resonant low-end for an Orchestra Model. Featuring an Adirondack Spruce top, paired with Mahogany back and sides, this long-scale guitar is a fingerstyle classic. With loads of volume, especially in open tunings, this 18-style responds equally well to a flatpick. Chords are rich and full, with single-note runs jumping out of the guitar thanks to the light bracing and build of these early '30s OMs.
The soft-v neck carve is comfortable, and the guitar is very easy to play. The tuners are original, but there is evidence of replaced tuners being installed at one point. The bridge is original as well. A neck set has been preformed and the resulting neck angle is great. The bar frets are also in great condition. The C.F. Martin & Co. stamp on the back the headstock is very readable. There is obvious play and strum wear to the original top finish, along with finish wear throughout. There is a minor repaired bump crack at the butt and a repaired side crack on the treble side of the lower bout. (see photos). 1933 was the last year Martin built this guitar under the OM moniker until the 1990s, which makes this guitar all the more interesting. Includes non-original hardshell case.
