This sunburst 1948 Martin D-28 absolutely delivers on that Brazilian rosewood tone, with loads of vintage Martin mojo and shade top appeal.
One of two sunburst 28-style dreadnoughts ordered in 1948, this guitar had a start date of January 14. The guitar then cleared inspection in May of 1948, and shipped to Portland, OR. The neck has been professionally reset and refretted, the original, but cracked, bridge is included. The bridge has been replaced and was made by highly respected Nashville guitar builder and repairman, Marty Lanham.
Upon close inspection, the extra fingerboard dots, along with perfectly installed side dots, would indicate originality. Additional fretboard markers are common for those who play lap style or Hawaiian slide. The only other explanation would be a special order for someone’s personal preference. Fingerboard remains at full thickness. Includes modern hardshell case.
