Martin Custom J-41 Style - Pacific Big Leaf Maple (RHMC Spec)
This guitar started with a set of woods we hand selected during our visit to the Martin Factory. The spruce top had a clear, lively tap tone even before it was joined, and the Pacific Big Leaf flamed maple for the back and sides had that wide, dramatic movement that only shows up in truly special sets. The European flamed maple binding and perimeter pearl were choices made to frame the guitar with a soft glow, giving it a refined look without feeling overdone. Seeing it now, fully built, the gloss body and polished headplate bring out every detail we hoped for when we chose the materials.
The moment you pick it up, the guitar feels balanced and expressive. The GE Modified Low Oval neck has an easy, familiar feel, and the satin finish keeps it comfortable during long sessions. The spruce bracing gives the voice clarity and openness, and the Tree of Life inlay adds a sense of artistry that matches the rest of the build. The Style 45 rosette ties everything together in a way that feels classic and elegant. This is a guitar that began with careful choices at the factory and grew into something even more beautiful as the build came to life.
