This Martin D-28 Authentic 1931 is a spectacular guitar that brings superior build and real vintage tone back - right down to the hide glue construction. Martin recently purchased the first '31 D-28 ever made for their museum (the second has never turned up, the third is owned by our owner, Jim Baggett). Having the actual vintage piece in hand, Martin was able to examine every detail of the construction and the result is this Authentic. Jim, having played the third ever made on many occasions, was amazed by the vintage tone of this new Authentic, "I'm floored by how close it sounds. It's just incredible."

The top is Adirondack Spruce, paired with wonderfully matched Madagascar Rosewood back and sides - both feature a polished gloss finish with aging toner. If you could look underneath, you'd see solid Adirondack Spruce bracing in a standard '31 scalloped X design. Every inch of this has been built with the vintage sound in mind though, as you can see, it's easy on the eyes too.

The '31 appointments include a Belly style bridge and long bone saddle, the short pattern fretboard inlay, the butterbean tuners, the herringbone top inlay and '31 Style 28 soundhole rosette...it's all here. If you've dreamed of a vintage Martin, but want something brand new (and much more affordable than most pre-war guitars), this Martin D-28 Authentic 1931 is as good as it gets.
