Martin D-42K2 Koa Dreadnought Natural Acoustic Guitar, 2002 [USED]

The Martin D-42K2 Koa Dreadnought was built as a limited run from 2000 to 2006, with about 250 made.  One variant was offered, the 'D-42 Custom Koa' with a Spruce top.  In 2007, the concept was used with an 00 body as the 'Robbie Robertson Special'. 

This guitar has spectacular looks and its sound lives up to its appearance. 

The Martin D-42K2 features figured Koa for the top, back and sides and a '42' style snowflake inlay set with an Abalone binding layer and rosette ring. 

This example is in very good condition with light wear.  A top crack was repaired and cleated at The Twelfth Fret repair shop.  The original gold-plated tuners have been replaced with a set of Waverly machines with white plastic buttons.  Fret and finish wear are light.   

The original Martin branded, arched-top hard shell case is included.  

Materials and Construction

The Martin D-42K2 Koa follows the standard 'D' design with Spruce-braced figured Koa for the top, back and sides.   The body blocks, linings and neck are Mahogany, the bridge and bound fingerboard are Ebony.  The head plate is Indian Rosewood.  A standard faux-tortoise teardrop style  pickguard is installed over the finish. 

The '42-style' inlay set uses Abalone with a vertical C F Martin headstock logo, snowflake position markers, a pair of snowflake inlays on the bridge. The top is bound with an Abalone layer inside the binding and tracing the fingerboard tag, with another ring in the center of the rosette.
