The early 1934 000-18 long-scale is for all purposes an OM-18, which had been dropped from the Martin catalog in 1933. The early OM-18’s and 28’s are considered to be the choice of many finger-style professionals, especially the early OMs with banjo tuners. The later 1932-33 OM’s have become popular as a very versatile guitar for both finger style and flat pick styles. This 1934 fits the later category perfectly.
This guitar has recently been beautifully fretted with new bar frets. The fingerboard remains at full thickness with frets dressed to about .042. A common complaint with bar frets that are not professionally installed or dressed is that there catching or dragging as one moves up and down the neck, the bar frets on this guitar however are finished smooth and feature excellent playability.
The original bridge has been reglued with no scarrring or nicks around the edges. With a very nice action the saddle height is .110. The guitar is crack free with bright original finish other than a small touch up to cover a couple initials lightly scratched into the top. Finish thickness in that area measures the same as the other areas of original finish. Two very small areas on the lower bout of the back, most likely from strap rash, have been touched up. The inside of the guitar is clean, neat and original including the original bridge plate in excellent condition. The original tuners work perfectly. A great guitar in all ways. Come with a high quality new case.
