This used Martin 1969 D-28 is big sounding, responsive guitar with that Brazilian bass and plenty of rich highs. 1969 marked the end of the original Brazilian rosewood era for style-28 guitars at Martin, and this particular dreadnought end up with a great looking set.
This guitar has received an overhaul more recently, with a replacement neck, replacement bridge and replacement pickguard. The replacement neck feels great, and is reminiscent of a more modern Martin-style neck. The tuners have been replaced with vintage-inspired Waverlys, while the original grover tuners are included in the case. At one point the replacement neck had the grovers installed and there is an outline to the finish on the veener, along with a minor split in the veneer at low E-string post (see photos). There are signs of a pickup being installed, with a bit of glue residue on the original rosewood bridgeplate. The end pin has been replaced. The body has been professionally oversprayed, with minor dents to the finish and playwear.
All that being said, this is a really great playing, great sounding Brazilian rosewood dreadnought at a fraction of the price.
