PRS Santana MD Multi-Dimensional Black Cherry, 2008 [USED]

This PRS Santana MD in Black Cherry finish dates to 2008 and was built at Stevenson, Maryland.  The guitar is in original and good overall condition with light play wear and a few small dents and dings around the edges. 

The original hard shell case is included and contains paperwork and the trem arm. 

Construction and Materials

In 2008, the PRS Santana MD was released – the MD standing for ‘multi dimensional’. The key difference is in the wiring: there’s an extra switch that enables the ‘Multidimensional Voice Control’ circuit, allowing a range of new tones. In the ‘off’ position, the controls work as standard master volume and tone controls.

The PRS MD circuit is powered by a pair of standard 9v batteries, but if the batteries are not used or lose enough charge, the switch will silence the guitar, rather like a standby or kill-switch.

Carlos Santana has had a long relationship with Paul Reed Smith guitars, and there are a number of PRS Santana models.

As with other PRS guitars, the PRS Santana MD features a carved, top-grade bookmatched flame maple top, with added abalone trim on the center seam and between the pickups, on a mahogany back with comfort contour; the neck is mahogany with rosewood fingerboard. The fingerboard features PRS silhouette bird inlays and the headstock has the PRS signature.

The top’s finish has a translucent Black Cherry tint, while the rest is a nearly solid gloss black finish in good condition.

The hardware is chrome plated, with PRS locking tuners, the PRS trem bridge, and chrome covers on the PRS MD humbucking pickup set.
