The Stephens Series II model presents a wrap that stands out with rarity within the realm of horns. It embodies the ergonomic comfort reminiscent of their Series 1 "Geyer" model, while also incorporating elements reminiscent of the timeless "C. F. Schmidt Horn." An intriguing sonic phenomenon sometimes arises for certain players during the transition between the Bb and F horn notes. This phenomenon, characterized by an awkward "blip" in the sound, originates from the alteration in the direction of the airstream upon engaging the fourth valve. Analogous to the classic Schmidts, the Series II horn directs the airflow through both the Bb and F horns in a uniform manner. Notably, the F loop wrap precedes the valves, mirroring the arrangement found in a Schmidt horn. This distinctive configuration fosters an instrument of remarkable uniformity, capable of executing exceptionally smooth slurs.
