Here is a Waterloo WL-14 Scissortail, a beautifully crafted acoustic guitar inspired by the depression-era instruments that shaped early American blues, country, and folk music. Built under the Waterloo line founded by master luthier Bill Collings, this model is designed to capture the raw, soulful voice of vintage pre-war guitars while offering modern playability and reliability.
This Scissortail edition features maple back and sides paired with vintage-style X-bracing, delivering strong projection, excellent clarity, and a dry, woody tonal character that responds beautifully to fingerstyle and light strumming. The design draws inspiration from the “Oriole” guitars built in Kalamazoo between 1940 and 1942, blending historical influence with contemporary craftsmanship.
It is finished in a natural top with distinctive tortoise-style binding, along with a Scissortail bird headstock decal that nods to its Central Texas inspiration. Each Waterloo instrument is hand-built in Austin, Texas, ensuring exceptional attention to detail and build quality throughout.
Condition is near-new with virtually no visible player wear, presenting as an exceptionally clean example. It retains its original Waterloo hard shell case.
